Heal. Grow. Thrive.

Thank you for your interest in my clinical practice. I created this site to help you learn more about me and the professional services I offer, but please do not hesitate to contact me for further information.

I am a licensed psychologist in private practice in New York state, providing individual psychotherapy, consultation and assessment by video telehealth and in person in Rockland County NY. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing emotional distress and relational difficulties. I specialize in the following issues:

  • depression and anxiety

  • mood instability, anger, and rage

  • personality disorders

  • relationship issues and domestic violence

  • post-traumatic stress, trauma, and healing from abuse

  • substance use and addictive behaviors

  • schizophrenia and psychotic disorders

My goal as a psychologist is to help you feel better, quickly, applying proven therapeutic methods, in a warm, and caring atmosphere. I am solution oriented so you will not spend years in therapy. Most patients are in treatment for a few months. At the same time, I work to produce long-term, sustainable change in my patients.

My thoughts on therapy

I view therapy as a collaborative process between client and therapist. I help my clients progress toward their goals in a supportive and affirming environment. Just as each person's needs, experiences, and strengths are unique, I tailor my services to each individual and help him or her uncover past and present factors that may be impacting current functioning. I help my patients feel better and achieve positive change and growth.

In sessions, I help my clients understand and identify how historical patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving influence their current functioning, freeing them from unconscious patterns of relating so that they can experience more satisfying, productive, and authentic lives. I work with my clients to help them learn to independently manage symptoms so that functioning improves. In doing so, I utilize a supportive, flexible, and integrative approach, drawing from psychodynamic, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral techniques. I customize treatment to best serve the unique needs of my clients and, where applicable, their families.

Getting Started

To inquire about meeting for an initial interview, please call or text at 212-729-1080. If I do not answer, leave a message with your contact information and good times when I can call you and speak with you. Please specify if I can leave a message at any telephone number you provide. You may also contact me by email at jonathankeigherphd@gmail.com.

An initial session is a first meeting where we meet each other to discuss the possibility of working together. It is a 45-minute meeting and I charge the same fee for that as I do for an individual therapy session which is $225. Please bring all your questions and concerns as well as your goals and intentions to that meeting.

If we agree to work together after our first meeting, there will be an assessment period in order to begin the process of understanding your current situation, feelings and behaviors. We will then decide on a path forward into change and, if indicated, begin psychotherapy.

During the therapy process, it is important for us to periodically check in and ensure we are working in a productive and positive way that meets your goals and desires. Good communication, taking action steps and deep honesty on your part about both the positive and negative experiences of working together will be very important parts of this process.
